The programming was done well, and for the most part it has good gameplay, but you clearly used sprites from the 1942 game maker game. It wouldn't kill to be original. Another thing that could be improved is how when you hit the edge of the screen you just stop moving, turning the plane around when you get out of the screen would do much better. It also gets kinda stale after a while, some powerups and mission objectives like bombing island factories, or fighting boats would be cool. The fact that you can fly right into enemy planes without either sustaining damage makes the game a bit too easy. Finally, the voice acting could be better and there is no background music.
great game - but gets repetitive
Way too easy... the stat building element was kind of a miss, letting me jack up stats like armor, recharge, fail safe and damage to a point where all you really have to do is press three buttons repeatedly to wipe out all enemies as soon as they enter the screen... and the bossfights, they take forever, they are really easy, but they have way to much health. The way you increased the difficutly is a common misconception for making things harder. Instead of making it harder by multipying the amount of enemies, try giving them unique abilities or a certain twist. I see you tried to do that with the boss that dissappeared and reappeared and the one that was two, but it just made no real difference... still, all you had to do was sit in a certain spot and press the same 3 buttons repeatedly. I, personally am confused about whether to like the stat building, or want it gone completely; on one hand the idea is pretty neat and simple stats like speed and damage were good, but on the other hand there are a few stats that you can go without touching any others and just beefing thoes up. And I'm definitely not a big fan of the precision stat. I think it would be cool if that one was gone, and there be a certain spot on the boss(or any other enemy) that does more damage when you hit it, taking away the dull, sitting there jamming buttons and replacing it with trying to find the next boss' weak point and trying to stay aimed at that point while it moves...
IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE READING THAT NOVEL- here is what i think is good and isn't in a nutshell:
+Lots of explosions
+Graphics and effects are great
+Music is great
+Enemies break as you hit them! SHWEET!
+Lots of potential
-Difficulty increased mostly by the increasing of enemies
-Same background in every level!
-Too many overpowered, complex stats
-Fail-safes... they basicly take away the need for skill... except that one with the balls... i don't even know what that is supposed to do
-Critical Hits, you can hit it on the very tip of the wing and strike a critical hit, that's kind of stacking the odds in our favor, isn't it?
- Same level format... you kill a huge amount of kamikaze baddies at the same time, you dodge some walls and pick up some unneeded health, and finally you spend five minutes jamming your keyboard and watching the boss slowly decay(thats actually a pretty cool effect) under the lasers, explosions, missiles, and the 1758 hit combo counter...lol paragraph
Keep up the good work! Lots of potential this game has, for talking like yoda I am. Wow I can't beleive I still have over 1300 characters remaining! Good game overall!
